Response to “Limitations in the Hilbert Transform Approach to Locating Solar Cycle Terminators” by R. Booth

Abstract Booth ( Solar Phys. 296 , 108, 2021; hereafter B21) is essentially a critique of the Hilbert transform techniques used in our paper (Leamon et al., 295 36, 2020; L20) to predict termination solar cycles. Here we respond his arguments; methodology and parameter choices do extract mathematically robust signature terminators from historical sunspot record. We agree that attempt L20 extrapolate beyond record gives failed prediction for next terminator May 2020, identify both possible cause remedy here. However, disagree with B21 assessment likely Cycle 24 two years after date predicted L20, show why.
